It is a small miracle: Man photographed e.g. in a church out of his hand, and the camera turns it into a sharp, low-noise photo. There is a special setting for such shots in the twilight. As for the systemic HX1 can not have exemptions against the background (sharp boundaries), such as portraits, because the depth of field is enormous. However, one can safely operate at maximum aperture (2.8 to 5.2). I had been reluctant because the camera can record in raw format (RAW), but the JPEGs are perfectly well without Nachberabeitung. A filter thread and a lens hood does not exist, but the lens is not scattered light sensitive. Unfortunately that also means that you can not use a neutral density filter for motion studies, unless you hold it with his fingers in front of the lens. Even the cable release has saved you, really a matter of course. External flash units can not join.
I would also have liked a wider review of the viewfinder. The bright 3-inch display contrast, enables a very good review of the section. You can pull down to turn, unfortunately (but not for portrait shots such as in the old Canon G3). Too bad.
With these limitations, I can the apparatus also serious photographer (if necessary to supplement, recommended as mine). The pictures are excellent at all focal lengths and the technique for long-term recordings from the hand is a valuable addition.
