Pentax istDL SLR 6 Megapixel
A few weeks ago and I’m finally (switched) from an analog to digital SLR camera. Due largely positive experience with Pentax and a desire to want to use old lenses on, I have kept the brand and I’m looking for the Pentax * decided istDL. This I’ve not regretted a second: Everything is running smoothly, delivers a picture quality like never before and the camera and its features are an experienced amateur photographer familiar analog after a short familiarization period. The menu system is quite clearly not the design of overcharging. You can choose between automatic and motivational programs or even the old familiar part (-) manual settings (aperture priority, shutter priority and manual setting, etc.). The camera also works with old KA-/KAF-Objektiven close without problems (which include also a good firmware is). The aperture you use, however, no longer on the lens, but with a thumbwheel on the back of the camera body aperture ring itself (is permanently on “A” set). Some additional features include an exposure to 1/3-Schritten and an option to mirror lock-up during long exposure times.
Photography looks like they used to “wink” through the prism finder, made the trip until after the picture appears briefly on the rear panel, and can roughly be judged on its success. The storage medium is an SD memory card here (Warning: not for the delivery!). I recommend a high-speed card (eg Kingston elite pro, 256MB or greater) to avoid delays in image processing. The dubbing of the images on the PC is done with a supplied (with 1 m but relatively short!) USB cable and is very easy (if you know how it’s done 
. The included software allows the viewing and archiving of photos, but not editing – it needs to other programs!
The included with 18-55mm zoom lens (equivalent to one analogous focal length of about 28-80mm) with value and quality is a very useful standard features. The resolution of the camera from up to 6 Mexapixeln Although nominally not much by today’s standards (at the moment is talk of an alleged default in 8-10 MP for digital SLR) and that might even become the reason for the low price of under $ 500 be. I think the available resolution but more than enough, and not only that: It is in the preferences to choose between 1.5, 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. MP (as well as 3 levels of quality from * to ***) and I use default “only” 4 MP ( + ***), use the 6 MP therefore not out! Nevertheless, the results are impressively sharp and macro photographs, even in demanding high enough resolved for all PC desktop applications as well as photo prints up to at least A4 size. Why, then, more MP, only required if the space and makes for normal applications (except, perhaps, large format poster) no visible difference?
Conclusion: I enjoy taking pictures is fun again and I can recommend Pentax istDL SLR istDL with 18-55-zoom – just after the falls of recent months – only to buy!
