I had so far, the Panasonic TZ5 and I have about 2 weeks before the TZ7 purchased since the changes were advertised but very tempting.
After the relatively short time using the following experiences that relate primarily to the differences on the TZ5 (many recessions vrhanden):
Positive:
+ Enhanced focal length range of 25-300 mm, but naturally with 25mm
Distortions occur
+ Slimmer housing than the TZ5 and thus pocket-friendly
+ Camera tripod thread is now in the middle, and thus more stable state
+ Video mode extended to AVCHDlite (PAL compliant with 25 fps). The
Recordings can match on TV and BluRay players from Panasonic
be played directly from SD card.
Recording in MOV format (30 fps) is also still possible.
+ Video recording with stereo sound now
+ Extra Videoausl?setaste
+ Panorama Assistant to assist the inclusion of later
assemblable photos on the PC (ie no built-in panoramic function)
+ And various other minor changes
Performance and image quality compared to TZ5 is not noticeably better, but just settled for a compact camera at the top. The HD video resolution of 1280×720 also remained unchanged.
Unfortunately, there are not only improvements over its predecessor, which is not shown in the advertising of course.
Negative:
- The battery has changed, is smaller and more expensive. Out
a forum I have learned that a chip is integrated in the battery
and so the replica of cheaper third party is hindered.
- The run as AVCHD videos recorded clips on PCs as well as
the Panasonic BD35 is not as smooth as clips as MOV format
recorded and then converted on the PC in AVCHD
and be burned.
- The start of the video recording with the video button leads to a
about 1 sec. long dark period of the display. This one loses
Recording moving objects very quickly out of sight.
This is a very big disadvantage!
With the TZ5 video mode is previously selected already, so the
Switch display even before you start recording to 16:9, and so will not
“Blackout” is created.
- The TZ 5 had an overhead function, in the view angle as
change was that the display diagonally from the bottom was clearly visible.
This feature is missing in the TZ7 and is supposedly only for
the TZ6 available.
Conclusion:
All in all, a recommendable camera, especially if one wants to take pictures and videos with a single device.
Changing from TZ5 on TZ7 not really worth, unless the new
Functions are absolutely needed.
