Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR

reviews

I have the Fuji F200EXR now being tested four weeks in detail and compared it with my Fuji F30. My conclusion:

The terms F200EXR is currently probably the best image quality compact camera. Very clearly shows the dkamera.de page where you can compare images of various test cameras side by side clearly. Even at ISO 100, the F200EXR surpasses all other compact cameras. Most dramatically, it will deliver at higher ISO settings (400 or 800), where other compact cameras only smeared images. The Panasonic LX3 is often praised as compared to Fuji F200EXR here from clear.

The F200EXR provides knackscharfe images with amazingly high dynamic range in nice colors. Even in extreme light, the camera produces hardly CA (purple fringing on high-contrast edges). I am extremely pleased with the camera, even if one considers the relation of handy size and price for the great picture quality.

The EXR-DR mode (dynamic increase) works. Bright image parts are no longer eat out of the White and dark places not drink from the mark. The camera produces one for compact cameras previously unknown dynamic range, such as the sky remains blue and clouds have even the structures identified. The resolution is, however 6MP. You can also set in the Program mode P with 12MP resolution a slightly different functional DR mode, which delivers similar results. This one will get a 12MP image but with more detail.

Battery life is rather mediocre, so you should definitely purchase an equal to a reserve battery.

Negative, I noticed:
* The SN mode for allegedly low-noise images at high ISO settings is a humbug. The images are clearly more noisy than in the HR mode (= high resolution at 12MP) and are also due to the reduced resolution of 6MP, of course, less detail. All my test images clearly show the same test images at dkamera.de.
* From the EXR-Auto mode (the camera) everything I hardly think a decision, because while the sensitivity is increased very fast to ISO1600, so the picture is much noise. A limitation of the ISO value is not possible in this mode. Furthermore, the continuous autofocus is switched off is not annoying and batteriezehrend.
* As with most cameras to me is the automatic white balance too bluish. Therefore, for me the most automatic programs, all working only with automatic white balance, unusable.
* Clear barrel distortion at 28mm wide angle.
* Programmrad adjusted very easily. It is advisable to check each time the position of Programmrads too.
* In general, many settings are confusing. For, besides all the other usual attitudes, the subject programs, etc., etc. there is now another EXR-automatic, where the camera tries to find the best possible program – a kind of super-automatic. In addition, you can also adjust Programmed Auto (P) is a dynamic increase in DR. “But this works quite differently than the EXR-DR mode with 6MP. Confusing!
