Canon PowerShot A480

A product of the Canon brand you have expectations. Had they not, one could also become a no-name box Knips reach out from the supermarket. - Packaging —

The case represents the great disappointment with the PowerShot A480 dar. By the way: it seems a fun tradition at Canon to be fitted upside-card slots, so the user with an intuitive attempt (read: without using the brain, which everybody for such a simple process and should not really need) to insert the card needs only to fail again.
The overall mediocre housing is therefore not recommended for those who consider her camera as a status symbol. At least the back of such contemporaries should hide from their fellow men. Sure, the camera is favorable in terms of quality but in general it is expected more from Canon – the A480 this quality can not be conveyed outwardly and here loses a star.

- Camera: Operation —

By the poor value, one should nevertheless not be distracted. The service is flawless, the buttons are – to the lowest on the back, which people like me who are blessed with klodeckelgro?en hands reaching demands one Daumenverrenker – optimally and to understand intuitively.
The latter also applies for the menu, which should represent simplicity and clarity, even for absolute novices no problem.
It is also positive, the large, bright display. Its resolution is good, and the reaction time when moving the camera really fix what it means (a reliable substitute for the “missing” optical viewfinder in a camera this size, which is hardly used anyway) does.
The response by the trip, however, is not quite so pleasant, but quite acceptable in the frame. Also, the flash that is recharged after each use again only slows down a bit when shooting. But also moves still in an area that can be classified as “not too seriously”. Finally, one should also always keep in mind the reasonable price.

- Camera: Equipment —

Here I never needed to lose so many words, because “all what they can expect in the segment” would be the features of the PowerShot A480 actually been aptly described. Things such as macro mode, red-eye suppression, video recording, various shooting modes and self timer are standard anyway, and the face is found in many devices now also this price segment. An optical image stabilizer does not provide the camera, I’ve missed this before but just slightly.
I must emphasize once more the standard-compatibility of the camera. The manufacturer makes consistent use of common interfaces: SD / MMC memory card, USB port with mini-B jack, power by normal AA batteries / accumulators (ie no more electricity more expensive, proprietary spare battery required) and video recording in the positive AVI format, not proprietary formats such as MOV for example, what the processing of the videos on the computer a lot easier.

- Camera: pictures —

In rather sharp contrast to the external impression is the image quality.
This exposes the camera that is the latest on the recorded images as a real bargain. The photos are bright, high contrast, vivid and sharp. How it is level from a device on the Canon may be expected. More must say you did not do so. At most, that the camera is mainly on the macro scale can even surprise him. Even images from the shortest distance are sharp and well exposed. - Conclusion —

Above all, service and quality are in my view, above the level of this segment, which bestowed the camera a perfect price-performance ratio and makes it really advisable. This places very cheap-looking housing that spoils the overall impression a bit. Although clearly not affect the negative effect on the intrinsic values of the camera, but Canon must be easy to expect more than no-name discount stores optics and haptics.
